Wastebuster

Pilgrims Way Primary School

We took part in the Wastebuster Challenge and tried to do a 'waste-free lunch' as part of our Eco-Schools Bronze flag. Our eco-committee audited the waste created in the lunch hall, one lunchtime and then put together an action plan that they could share with our whole school community for how we could reduce the amount of waste created.

They had some great ideas. We put wastebuster posters up all over the school and showed a Wastebuster film on reducing food waste in a special 'waste-free lunch' assembly.

Our eco-committee re-audited our lunchtime waste again the following week and were able to show the rest of our school a reduction in the amount  being created!

We'd really like to keep it up though so we've appointed 'wastebusters' in our eco-committee to keep thinking of great ideas for how we can do this.
