What are Wastebuster Education Centres?
Wastebuster Education Centres are exciting hubs of educational activity based at waste processing units, designed to explore the on-site processes and enrich the learning outside the classroom experience. Interactive and multimedia installations combine with educational materials to provide a means for children to learn in context, by practical engagement, and by personal discovery. The centres provide access to information, knowledge, expertise, guidance, resources and opportunities for visitors to acquire new skills, work collaboratively with others and develop a better sense of themselves and their potential.
Durability, adaptability and overall sustainability are a priority in the design and build of the Education Centres. Wastebuster minimise waste at source, divert waste from the build (if any) from landfill, and actively promote the waste hierarchy of the 4Rs in the material procurement and project design to;
- Maximise use of the site
- Minimise the environmental impact of the build
- Maximise use of renewable materials, recycled, repaired and reused materials
- Minimise energy consumption through choice of material and technology
- Minimise waste
- Reject polluting and non recyclable materials.
