Wastebuster's Home Recycling Challenge

Wastebuster’s Home Recycling Challenge had over 500 schools taking part and captured the imagination of over 142,000 children!  The challenge aimed to get children thinking about how and what they can recycle in their own homes.

Polesdon Lacey Infant school won the £1000 CASH prize, with the highest percentage of pupils returning challenge sheets, and were also treated to a special assembly with CBBC presenter Maddie Moate, and Busta from the Intergalactic Wastebuster Federation.

Lucky Katie Le Put won an iPad and Wastebuster goodie pack for receiving over 3000 votes. Katie from St Thomas Church of England Infant and Junior School said, “I thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the Home Recycling Challenge. It helped me understand recycling and why we need to do it, and the poster shows me and my dad what can be recycled.”

Katie’s father Darren also commented, “Katie really enjoyed the challenge and telling me off when I put things in the wrong bin!” Darren, who works for a local metal recycling company got friends and family involved too, telling them about the challenge and how to recycle. And the message was even more widespread when Katie’s father used the power of social media and Facebook to share the link and pass the message on!
