Inspired by London 2012

Sport into Schools provides an opportunity for schools, community groups and sports clubs to use the inspiration of London 2012 to increase access and participation in sport for children and young people, through care for the environment.

Seb Coe, Chair of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games said:

'Sport into Schools is encouraging children to fulfil their potential. I am proud that with the help of partners such as Wastebuster, LMB Education and Sports Traider we are delivering our vision to use the power of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games to boost participation in schools’.

This Inspire project is designed to;

  • increase access to sports equipment for children and young people
  • increase participation in NEW types of sport
  • show children how they can support young and disadvantaged aspiring athletes
  • teach children and young people the value of waste as a resource
  • teach the importance of protecting the environment  and how csds

Sport into Schools offers a wealth of opportunities to explore and demonstrate a commitment to the Olympic and Paralympic Values by respecting the environment and taking care of one's health through recycling and increased participation in sport.

This provides an excellent framework for schools to use the Games to add value to life of the school.

Schools that participate in the Sport into Schools project can use their involvement as the basis of an application to join the London 2012 Get Set network and receive recognition for high levels of learner engagement.

Sport into Schools has been awarded the London 2012 Inspire Mark and is an official part of London 2012’s Inspire Programme.

This is a mark of excellence for non-commercial organisations and projects that have the potential to inspire change in sport, culture, education, sustainability, volunteering and enterprise.
