Youth Unite this Water Week 2025 – Pledge for the Planet

We are the voice of the future — and we care about our oceans.

Right now, less than 3% of our oceans are fully protected. That’s like having a huge underwater world but only being allowed to look after a tiny corner of it. The rest is left without help — and it’s suffering.
Scientists say we need to protect at least 30% of the ocean by 2030 so it can stay healthy and keep doing all the amazing things it does. Like giving us air to breathe, food to eat, keeping our climate safe and balanced, being a safe home for sea creatures and recovering from damage caused by pollution and overfishing.
Protecting 30% gives nature space to recover — it’s like giving the ocean a chance to heal — and it helps protect our future too.
This Water Week, we are asking world leaders at the 2025 UN Ocean Conference in Nice, France (June 9–13) to:
  • Protect at least 30% of the world’s oceans by 2030
  • Listen to the voices of children and young people who care deeply about the planet they’ll grow up in
We must gather 100,000 pledges to ensure these voices are heard at the Summit.
So, every pledge counts!

Sign the pledge to show you care about protecting our oceans.

Then try out any of the fun Water Week Climate Champion Challenge activities — they’re quick, simple actions that really do make a difference. Tag 3 friends or members of your family to join in you’ll be helping create an even bigger wave of change!
Everyone who pledges will also be invited to sign our official UK Government petition, launching soon. This petition calls on the UK to deliver on its commitment to protect 30% of the oceans by 2030 – and if we reach the 100,000 pledges, it will be debated in Parliament.
Together, we can create waves of change!
