Cheshire West and Chester Schools Waste Action Programme

Working with young people to understand how their actions impact the environment and to embed sustainable practices into school, home and community life is a key part of Cheshire West and Chester Council's climate emergency response plan.

The Cheshire West and Chester Schools Waste Action Programme, in partnership with Cheshire West Recycling, is free to every school in the borough. It helps pupils build awareness, responsibility and critical thinking by giving them the knowledge to reduce waste, recycle right and cut carbon. At the same time, it equips schools with resources, lesson plans and tools to embed sustainability across their setting – and benchmark their progress through a Climate Action Plan.

By empowering pupils and celebrating achievements, the programme builds a culture of sustainability that reaches beyond the classroom; inspiring families and communities to take positive action for a greener future.
